Poorman Golf Guide

Everyday golfer. Full-time worker. Golf addict.

Austin Fox is a competitive amateur golfer, former NCAA Division II collegiate player, and accomplished golf instructor who combines high-level playing experience with more than a decade of professional teaching expertise.

During his competitive career, Austin competed in NCAA Division II regional events while developing the skills and course management strategies that continue to shape his coaching philosophy today. As an amateur, he has built an accomplished tournament résumé, including multiple City Championship titles, a semifinal appearance in the State Amateur Championship, and a runner-up finish in the State Stroke Play Championship.

Away from the golf course, Austin spent over 10 years as an elementary educator, where he developed a reputation for breaking down complex concepts into clear, practical instruction tailored to each individual learner. That educational background has become one of his greatest strengths as a golf coach. Rather than relying on technical jargon or one-size-fits-all advice, he helps golfers understand why they make certain decisions, how to practice with purpose, and how to transfer those skills to the golf course.

Austin’s coaching philosophy centers on simplifying the game. He believes lower scores come from better decision-making, effective practice, sound course management, and developing skills that hold up under pressure. Every lesson is designed to meet golfers where they are, build confidence, and provide a clear roadmap for long-term improvement.

Whether working with beginners or accomplished players, Austin is passionate about helping golfers play smarter, practice more effectively, and enjoy the game at a higher level.
